Executive Profile - David Storey

Chief Executive Officer

David Storey is the Chief Executive Officer of the Resolve Group. He founded Resolve Workplace Solutions in 1997 and co-founded the Resolve Group in its expanded form in 1999.

As CEO, David provides internal leadership for Resolve’s consulting product and service development, business development and alliances, as well as organisational learning. Together with Pascal Moloi (Group MD), he also drives the Group’s performance and investment decisions. Resolve benefits from his entrepreneurial spirit and ability to conceive and execute on strategy.

David’s consulting focus within Resolve includes providing strategic advice to private and public sector organisations in the areas of organisational development, human resource strategy, workplace transformation (black economic empowerment and employment equity), labour relations, change management and process design, culture, leadership, governance and licensing arrangements, and dispute resolution.

Prior to establishing Resolve, David held the following positions:

 

  • Managing Director of Conflict Management Services (Pty) Ltd – acted as independent Consultant to the Departments of Safety and Security and Land Affairs where he was responsible for leading the three-year transformation of Public Order Police and the design of a comprehensive national system for the resolution of land related disputes including the creation of the National Land Reform Mediation Panel. During this time, he also acted as a core member of the drafting teams of the National Crime Prevention Strategy and the Safety and Security White Paper;
  • Consultant to the National Chief of Operations at the Independent Electoral Commission for the 1994 election;
  • Deputy Director of the Wits/Vaal Region Secretariat of the National Peace Accord;
  • Research Officer with the Centre for Applied Legal Studies.

 

David’s consulting work for Resolve has included:

 

  • Managing the Culture and Change Management process for the People’s Project in Transnet – one of four components of its 4-point Turnaround Strategy;
  • Design and project managment of the 2002/3 and 2005/6 Long Term Fishing Rights Allocation process for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism;
  • Design and project management of the new DG Review Process for the Department of Labour;
  • Strategy & planning work, including Financial Intelligence Centre, Office of the Accountant General, City of Johannesburg, Liberty Life, and DBSA;
  • Facilitating the legal strategy development for the creation of RED's for EDI Holdings (part of consortium);
  • EE strategy consulting for a number of corporations including Discovery Group, Liberty Life, Johnnic, SANBS, Stanlib, Hatch Engineering and Investec;
  • Leadership development in Tiger Brands, Transnet, DBSA, Spoornet and SABC.

David is also an accomplished trainer and mediator who has published papers and presented at conferences both locally and abroad in the fields of policing, crowd management and conflict management.
